I heard many times from veteran Arr pilots that they got spank by their CO.
Kurt Schade,1/jg 28 and 3/jg 52 :"Our task was to teach Rumanian pilots how to fly the 109.They were generally good pilots, even if their personal conduct was diferent from ours. One day,for example,I saw the Rom. CO slap one of his pilots across the face,an action which would ,of course, have been unthinkable in the Luftw. However,we led a confortable life as guests of the Rum.and were treated very well. Any more examples? |

Yes, the conduct was not uncommon in ARR. Other German pilots (like Adolf Dickfeld) also mentioned the same issue.
One notoriously strict officer, who reportedly regularly punished his subordinates, was Cpt. Lucian Toma. |
