I can't believe my eyes... It still has the markings on, the yellow stripe.
Do you know were this extremely rare piece is located or were was it found? Can it be visited? |

I have very few info right now. I found it by chance on one Slovak military forum. It is somewhere near Levice, where Romanian soldiers crossed river Hron in 1945. I will try to find more about it. |

I found contact to owner of this turret, so I will ask directly him about the origin of this rare piece. So far I have one good message - it can be visited freely at his yard.
So, are You going to visit Slovakia? |

The 2nd Tank Regiment lost several R-35s in the initial fighting after crossing the Hron at Dol. Pial. This turret can belong to one of them.

Yes, I read here in Slovakia, that during the operations between rivers Hron and Nitra, there were 8 Renaults destroyed and 2 damaged. I am curious, where exactly this one was found. I already asked the owner via e-mail, but so far without response. |

Hopefully next year I will make a visit to Slovakia, Levice is close enough to Banska-Bystrica, where I heard that there is a nice liberation museum. Could you ask the owner of the turret if he has some better photos of it, it would be nice to see them as there are very few details of the gun extension.
I found the same info in the book “Third Axis Fourth Ally” written by Mark Axworthy unfortunately I don’t think that the statistic differentiates between R-35 and R-35/45 and some of those 10 tanks are R-35/45. This post has been edited by mihnea on November 22, 2006 09:34 pm |

i don`t understand why does this guy have a torpedo, a R-35/45 turret, some tank ammunition and rusty helmets but at least he could keep them in a better condition as an honour!

http://dufi.wargames.sk/MiG/index.php?page...006&startFrom=0 For most people , those things are scrap metal, is a good thing the guy kept them as they are, even in such conditions |

Hallo Messerschmitt The "torpedo" is in fact a bomb, look closely at the fixng brackets to mount it in a bomb bay or under the wings, the design of the fins look something like the rear of a torpedo but there is no propellor, as is apparent on the next picture. http://dufi.wargames.sk/MiG/index.php?page...77-7758_IMG.JPG to see more pictures click on the [ ďalší obrázok ] button, looks like a re-enactment group were there to give a display as well Kevin in Deva |
