I do not yet have the book, but a friend told me, there are quite a lot of photos at good quality. This is already enough, to make me curious about the book. I hate (history) books with bad printing quality of photos. |

Indeed, the quality is good, but the informations are poor. But I think the book written by Craciunoiu and Roba is much better.

Could be. You tought it could also be another kind of approach ?! As my friend told me, this book is more about the 3 aviators ladys, Mariana Dragescu, Nadia Russo and Stela Hutan, with a lower accent on the historical facts of White Squadron and ww2. To bad that Virginia Thomas was left outside. |

Acording to Mariana Dragescu,Virginia Thomas was sort of an outsider.
Maybee that's the cause not many data about her exist. Still didn't found time to "process" the interv. I took MD a few years ago. |

I have the book.
Looks ok. I'll start reading it today. Skiping the part with Mariana Dragescu, since I know it in small details. |

Does the book mention anything about the film "Escadila alba" (coproduction Romania-Italia, director: Ion Sava, 1943)?

A.F.A.I.K. the movie ,,Escadrila Alba'' dissapeared during the fights in Italy. Last time was seen in Cine-Cita buildings.

FAAANTASTIC! After I posted the previous information, I met the son of the producer of ,,Escadrila Alba'', Ioan I Cantacuzino, the owner of CineRomIt. I ask about this Movie and said it could be in Italian Archives

It would be fantastic to discover it. A while ago, in the Italian archives was found "Odessa in flacari"/"Catuse rosii" (1942), another "lost" film. Unfortunately, only the italian soundtrack survived.

The film you mentioned ,had nothing to do with the "Escadrila Alba". Dicesare helped with some dog fight scence. The rest is what Cainele_franctiror wrote. |

About the book: I just finished it. It was ok. What I don't understand is why nothing is writen about the family of M.Dragescu and about her serving in the "Regina Maria Rosiori Regiment". I heard very nice stories about the written above. From my poiny of view ,any book written about "The forgotten era" is welcomed. (Exept of books written by this Donciu guy about the Escadrila From Mamaia, that was a big crap. |
