Given the fact that the website states it's an 100% Romanian Encyclopedia, I wonder why the article makes use of romgleză words, such as guerillă instead of the correct Romanian term gherilă.

'cause it sounds funnier? Or more "intellectual", maybe? And, btw, the word's etimology is French... -------------------- M

Definitely!
It is a good piece-of-work and I wish more Romanian fighters could benefit from this kind of attention... -------------------- M

Very interesting story. Thanks for sharing it.
The area in which the partisans were active is even today pretty wild, even after the big lignite surface mines were opened and more roads were built. Back then it was probably perfect for guerrilla warfare. |

Thanks! I'll try to "dig" for more romanian soldiers in the future, free time is the main problem for me. |

And here is your movie (made in 1986) about Victor Popescu http://istoria-romanilor.blogspot.com/2009...umbra-1986.html
Just as a fact, in 1986 the americans were making the well-known now "Top Gun" movie, with Tom Cruise This post has been edited by 21 inf on January 23, 2011 09:00 pm |

It's a shame we don't give more attention to our heroes and we sure do have a lot of them. But it's good that here there are still people who care about our history and provide with valuable information.
