I'm starting this topic to those who have any information about the history of radar systems in Romania, after WW2 until 1989. This is a topic dedicated to the lovers of "radiolocation". Any information is well received, pictures will be a delight.

bogdymar, you should check the whole Cer Senin archive: http://www.roaf.ro/ro/cer_senin/cersenin_arhiva.php They have an article about radar sites and systems in almost every issue, they give photos, radar types, location, interviews with the operators,... Most of the systems are from before 1989. Also, if you're using Google Earth, download this: http://geimint.blogspot.com/2008/06/worldw...e-overview.html it shows the visible locations of radars and their type (where identification is possible) All of these radar sites existed before 1989, just some new radars were added meanwhile (five FPS-117, two TPS-79 Gap Filler and one START-1M) This post has been edited by Vici on May 30, 2010 08:52 am |

I know all the "Cer Senin" archive very well. What I'm looking for are some more detailed facts, especially about the beginnings (until 70's). Also, some pictures from the early days.
