Last question (I think...): Wing tips of upper wings are white too or white areas were painted only under wings?

White painted on both upper and under wing tips.

Below two pictures with "red 1" ( left side and right side). Courtesy G-ral Dobran Ion.
You can see the roundels wing position, also the white  painted wing tips. The Wnr could be 165548 or 165540, from the batch received  in  july '44 by 7th FG and 9th FG.

Hello to you all,

It looks more to me that this could be a very late Erla production G-14. Werknummer 465540 or 465548?!

best regards,
Tomislav

Not really historically possible. The G14 was intorduced in late summer 1944. By that stage, Romania was no longer allied with Germany and they could not have been supplied with G14s.
The camouflage is extremely smilar to the camouflage applied to Bf109G6 manufactured by Mtt. Regensburg (see the preserved aircraft in Australia, covered in "Augsburg's Last eagles" by Brett Green), so it may be an aicraft from the 165000-166000 series.

Hello Radu,

You are right, ofcourse. In that case it should be WNr.165540 or 165540. The known losses in the 166xxx block indicate that there were no aircraft beyond the WNr.166495.

It's either, or neither. wink.gif

I have two losses beyond it, W. Nr. 166549 and 166644. The Rumanians also had a few Gustavs beyond that number.

Of course, any of these constr. nos. could be typos.

P.S. Are you Tomislav? ph34r.gif
