In the 50's the ship ( navy ship) on whom one of my relatives served as a cadet has been in a serious accident.
He told that everybody aboard, except for himself and another man, lost their lives. They told they were fired upon in international waters, nut didn't told by whom. He was badly wounded, but eventually survived and died after a succesful life a couple of years ago.
Which was this ship, probably destroyed, and what exactly happened?
My relative was a navy graduating officer ( cadet? is it well told) and was on his very first trip. And the last...

Does anybody know if any Romanian navy ship was lost or damaged at sea post WW2? Any serious accident resulting in dead crewmembers ?

I'm asking because I've never heard about such a case - and certainly not about that wild rumor posted by distroe above.

I'm thinking if there were any ships sunk in storms or which ran aground?
Any on board fires, expolsions or other accidents?

Thanks
