Yes, and the best a pro diver can do is take a photo.
Someone needs to locate it first. biggrin.gif

Yes Radu you are right but I have seen on the forum that were posted some locations. And after photos are taken we can se other locations like swamps lakes etc. and afterwards we can chose wich one is better preserved and rescue it.

Ovichelu,
Yes, you are absolutely right, there are lots of aircraft and vehicles rescued from bogs in Russia. A bog is nothing like the sea. Bog = turbarie in Romanian. The tundra in Russia is covered in bogs.
A bog is an anaerobic environment (basically, there is no oxygen there so there is no corrosion). Most vehicles you see being rescued from bogs are there because they got mired in the bog and slowly sank into it. That means that they were fairly intact when they sank.
When a plane ditches at sea, that is a completely different thing altogether. Water hit at speed behaves like concrete. Have you ever bellyflopped into a swimming pool? Did it hurt? Well, imagine a plahe hitting the water at ten times that speed and you can imagine what happens to it. Youtube is full of films of aircraft ditching ar sea and turning into very fine debris. It is most likely that when the IAR hit the water, it broke apart and scattered across a very large area.
This is very likely to be the same case with any of the IARs that hit water.

Now, if we were talking about a IAR80 that sank into a bog, believe me, I would be the first to start looking for funds to rescue it, simply because it has a fighing chance.

But when it comes to spending hundreds of thousands of Euros to find a debris field in the sea and bring up just a sack of shards of corroded metal, no thanks.

Radu

Hallo Radu, biggrin.gif

Ovichelu, has obviously no idea about the time and cost, that such a search would

entail either at sea or on land,

in all reality its not like there are hundreds of thousands of Romanians

who even have an idea what an IAR80 is,

or care about the fact that there is not one in a Museum.

This sadly seems to be reflected generally with regards Romanian Military history

for example how many WW2 Tank monuments exist in Romania?

As for the WW1 period this too tends to have been neglected

as are the graveyards and monuments to the men who fought in WW1.

NCR,

I agree with what you said, except for the WWI monuments. I suppose it depends what part of the country one sees.

In my case, the 2 largest war monuments I have seen in Romania were both dedicated to WWI: the one at Marasesti, which is rather large and elaborate, with a mausoleum and separate crypts for WWI generals. The other one I saw (also dedicated to WWI) is on the road to Rucar (in Muntenia), also a large structure built on top of a hill. In addition to mausoleums, this one has a life-like light-and sound diorama of the trenches, with life-size mannequins of soldiers in fighting positions, accompanied by sounds of the battle.

If you could name 1-2 similar monuments dedicated to WWII, I would appreciate it, since I would put them on my list of "places to visit". Perhaps one is more likely to encounter them in Moldova or Transylvania, since that's where most of the WWII fighting took place (although the monument in Targu Mures doesn't compare in size to the 2 places I listed above.

Take care.

It is an interesting idea and by far the most feasible way to have a IAR80 if you want one.
But, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Let us see it done first.

Just a project on paper (in this case a 3D drawing) like Radub said, first you should have the pudding before eating.
As i understand the only small problem to realize the project is to have the money tongue.gif

Well my friends if someone could find the money please let me know first because we can go to Bacau factory (were Fw 190 replica was built ) and for sure we could have the dream come through: a squadron of IAR80 ready to take off. rolleyes.gif

Every single project that you admire in other countries was completed by people who risked their own money, time and effort to get the thing done.  None of those projects appeared fully formed like Venus from sea foam.

And talking about other project, see how a team worked to discover the wrecks of a Mustang in Mediteranian sea.

Yes you are right but I think that we could find someone who is an pro diver(on the forum was a person with the nick u260) and maybe he can help.

Last year i spend about 0ne week searching in the Mamaia area for a airplane wreck. I have global coordinates but till now no results. With other words, i stay very open to help and search for this type of wrecks but without proper indication and good equipment is it like searching with closed eyes.

This year i will invest in a better 3D sonar so maybe this year more luck.
If somebody has a plan - global coordinates I’m willing to help.

b.t.w. Last year we found a cargo ship and a submarine from the second world war!

Dear Kevin...

My cost were made some years ago since i have my own boat and equipment.
I live in Constanta so also that don’t bring me cost.

It's more a factor of time and good weather cool.gif

People who wane join for search, come with locations and share in my fuel cost and you are more than welcome…

hi,

i saw that there are a lot of interested people in ww2 battlefield relic hunt.
i'm working now to open an antiques shop in Brasov, and i have a lot to do. but , this summer i hope i can go relic hunt again becouse i love it.

i had a metal detector, so i know where the problems start.

1. IN ROMANIA YOU CAN OWN A METAL DETECTOR...BUT YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO USE IT!!!!!!!
2. SAY THAT YOU'LL CHOSE TO RISK AND GO RELIC HUNTING, ANYTHING YOU FIND BELONGS TO THE STATE!!!!! AS SOON AS YOU DONATE TO THE STATE....THE ITEMS DISAPEAR (THAY ARE BEING SOLD IN AUCTIONS....AND NO MORTAL CAN REACH THEM) AND NO SURPRISE WHEN YOU SEE SOME POLITICIAN TO HAVE THAT ON THE WALL.
3. I ALREADY ASKED ON THIS FORUM : WHO WANTS TO GO RELIC HUNTING?...ANSWER: NOBODY!!! BECOUSE THE CAR TAKES FUEL, YOU NEED FOOD, IT'S HARD TO LET THE COMPUTER AND GO IN FORESTS WITH MUD...ETC .

4. IT'S NOT ABOUT DIABETES AND OTHER PROBLEMS THAT ROMANIA HAS MY FRIEND FROM DEVA.... IRELAND AND OTHER CIVILIZED COUNTRIES ARE ALSO IN DEEP SCHEIZE BECOUSE OF THE CRISIS, BUT HERE YOU DON'T SEE PEOPLE MOVE IN TENTS AS REFUGEES(USA & OTHERS)...SO "HALT DIE KLAPPE!" AS THE GERMAN SAYS.
5. UNTIL WE DON'T HAVE A PRIVATE MUSEUM, OR COLLECTION OPEN TO PUBLIC...YOU WON'T SEE INTEREST FROM THE AUTHORITIES(EX: I HAVE A FRIEND ALONG WHO I OFFERED VOLUNTEER TO RESTORE THE FAMO HALFTRUCK IN MMN AND WE SAID THAT WE BRING THE SPECIFIC PAINT, AND TOOLS...ONLY FOOD AND AND A BED AT THE MUSEUM DURING THE RESTORATION, AND GUESS WHAT THEY SAID: WE CAN NOT DO IT ..ONLY TO ASIST THE "EXPERTS" FROM THE MUSEUM-LOOK AT THE RUINING CONDITION OF THE FAMO AND SKODA TRUCK AND YOU'LL SEE THE "EXPERTS" CONSERVING THEM)
6. LAST YEAR I WAS AT THE MUSEUM DRESED AS A FALLSCHIRMJAEGER, COMPETE UNIFORM, AND IT WAS A SURPRISE TO ANYONE TO SEE A GERMAN UNIFORM ALONG
TRADITIONAL BULGARIAN AND ROMANIAN THAT ARE THERE EVERY YEAR. I MUST SAY THAT ANYONE WANTED TO TAKE PICTURES WITH ME, AND I WAS ASKED ALL THE TIME IS THIS FOR SALE? HOW MUCH IS THE HELMET...ETC. EXCEPT THE CONGRATULATION FROM MR SERBANESCU, NOBODY FROM THE MUSEUM ASKED ME...DO YOU NEED ACCOMODATION(2 DAYS)...OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT...I WAS COMING FROM BRASOV, ON MY MONEY!!!! TO BRING A LITTLE CONTRIBUTION TO THE SHOW.

WANT ME TO CONTINUE?

anyway...this summer i want to find a solution so i can go relic hunt legally.
