Where did this rifle come from, Help on identifing the history of this r

Hi there,

I purchased this rifle a few weeks ago in Sydney Australia,

the Caliber is 7 X 57 and the guy that sold it to me said it was a 1893 Spanish Mauser - Short,

After doing some research on the internet I have been unable to find any information on this rifle or its markings.

I have attached a few photos of the markings if anyone is able to help me out. These are all the markings on the rilfe that I could find.

I was speaking to a friend of mine and he saw the markings on the rifle. He said that it may have been issued to the Croatian army in WW2 as they used the 7 x 57 round. Could this be possible. He made this assumption due the crest (shield) marking which is a croatian feature.

any thoughts????
