This photo has recently been on sale on eBay. It is said to show a B-24 that has just returned from Operation Tidal Wave.

http://www.modelism.ro/cdrom12.htm

It contains two movies, first, the main movie, is a documentary made by TVR i think, it has some our days helicopter footage of the Ploiesti, it also contains some short takes made on Popesti-Leordeni showing romanian pilots making fun of the americans presance (they are coming on horses like the cowboys smile.gif ) training whit a b24 maket, the flak operators, many iar80 takes, interview whit Carol Anastasescu (IAR80 pilot), the burning rafinaries, interviw whit Nicoale Sculy (me109g pilot), Nicolae Fotescu (IAR80 pilot), a few b24 wreks, and a Serbanescu comemorance made in 1990 i think. And some takes made from Liberators, but nothing rare, the same takes from Liberators that we can see at British Pathe Journals.
The movie is 26 minutes long. Is only one problem, it has english sub, and the writng is preaty big and it eats a lot of image sad.gif

The second movie is not about 1 august but just a general view about the romanians passion for flight.

If you whant i can land you the cd.

Thanks for your description. The one on http://www.modelism.ro/cdrom12.htm is unfortunately a bit dry.

Here's a bomb sight photo of the Maj .Addison Baker CMH Recepient subsequent crash and burst in flames. Courtesy of USAF archives , 93rd BG archives. Major Addison Bakker perished with the entire crew while insisting on the preflight breafing that if ever hit over the target he will dive into it with the liberator and its entire crew . His medals ,photos etc were donated by his French wife to a USAF museum in Florida

From the flight deck of the 93rd BG TUPELO LASS , Ray Wier's camera captures an exploding storage tank tank. Note the B-24 ahead banking away from the inferno which just occured over the G/A flack on Ploesti suburbs

Cipiamon, you have been here long enough to know the rules. The forum language is English and I hate translating what others write. You have a warning.

The photo may seem colored, because it was photocopied with teh digital camera.
