Thanks Cantacuzino for the update. The identification of the planes has not been done by me, but by the seller of the photos.

Yes i know that.
The owner it's only a seller and not TW hystorian that why i made the corrections.

Another mistake ( from the owner) was done with the picture from the quote below:

An Original and Authentic 3 x 4-1/4 Inch WWII Nose Art B24 In Take Off Mode For Ploesti Romania Attack Photograph Removed From a Combat GI Album.

The nose art is a bit indistinct, but features the bust of a blonde girl on a red and white stripes and blue chief air corps shield.

The B-24 from the picture is " Blonde Bomber" captured by italiens before Ploesti Tidal Wave mission. Was also used by germans for testing.

Regarding the title of this thread, I'd just like to point out that there is a relatively new book on the American market named "Ploesti". In addition to describing and discussing the mission, the book contains lots of pictures from those particular raids, including many which I haven't seen on forums or on the internet.

I'll add the book's detailed publishing info when I get home.

RARE ORIGINAL WW2 PHOTO of THE B-24 named Brewery Wagon of the 376th Bomb Group (BG) 512th Bomb Squadron (BS) shot down on August 1, 1943 in Romania on the raid to Ploesti.  This is one of a set of photos that were taken at the crash site.  I had the writing on the back of the photo translated  "American Bomber shot down 1.8.43 "  You can look at the blow up of the photo in this add and make out a portion of the nose art.  The photo is about 2.5 inches by 3 inches in size.

I had the idea of superimposing the map below from the USAF Museum onto a Google Maps image of Ploieşti.

The dummy refinery to the south of Ploieşti fell on a forest, so I wonder if it ever existed. On the other hand, the dummy refinery to the east of Ploieşti still exists.
