Overcoats, and why been absent for so long

Noticed in some of the pics the overcoats the Romanian reenactors have been wearing. Anyone know where to find these? The only way I know of here in the US is to convert an original WWI AEF into WWII Romanian. Schipperfabrik asked if we needed overcoats but not sure if he has the items needed to do so right now.

I'm very happy you're back. I still have a WWII mess kit for you, I hoped you would come to Romania this year.

The overcoats are communist era ones similar to the model 1924 with some modification they can be transformed. The ones in the pictures are unmodified (only the buttons are changed). I plan to have mine fully transformed. The problem is finding them as they are not sold directly to the public and the ones that come from army stock are in small sizes, it's very hard to find them in normal sizes. Most are a bit greener than normal but some are just perfect, like mine I will send you some pictures on email with mine.

Planned on coming to Romania this past summer until last year when we found out about the baby. Hoping to be able to get back there soon to visit some areas around Iasi that I have recently been looking into.

Received the pics of the overcoat that you sent. How are the coats found normally if the army doesn't sell to the public? Through a vendor? With the information that Kepi posted a while ago the conversion would not be too difficult to do it seems (he told me what to do with an AEF WWI overcoat).

Schipperfabrik might try to make the overcoat eventually but no idea if he has all the necessary information on it. Have an event coming up in two weeks where I will have to use the German mantel again though it helps the scenerio is late 1944 as well as the other two in February of next year (one in a trench system and the other out in the woods camping in a foxhole).

Another person in the group found this one by Spearhead Militaria (barrylyndon28) on Ebay . Here is what he found that would need to be corrected: The coat will need minor adjustments to be correct for Romanian, namely it needs to have sew down shoulder epaulets ( as opposed to detachable ) made in the same brown wool, which can be easily done by taking a strip from around the bottom hem and using the fabric to hand make your own. Buttons can be repainted a deep green color. The beauty of this coat is that it already has the correct cuffs, which are kind of tough to hand make as they take a lot of materiel.

How does it look? It will be the closest we will find here in the US it seems.

Can someone tell us if this will be a close match? One person has ordered it and going to try to do a conversion. If it is close then will have the overcoat and can hang up the German mantel for the impression.
