Well Claudiu what do you think about it? His defense (the way he arrived to be Hitler's bodyguard) is quite light, don't you think? He seems to be ...(in his mermoirs) just a small piece of a giant machine. Well, at least the book is a relaxing one.
Yours, BM PS By the way, i hope to see you this summer; |

If anyone is interested, BBC recently aired in the US (Military Channel) an entire mini-series entitled "Hitler's Bodyguards", relating assasination attempts against Hitler and his bodyguard's corps organization (apparently the inner core was made up of former bavarian nazi/SA colleagues from his street fighting days before 1933).
Regarding C-2's letter and answer - way to go. I always forget that sometimes the simplest way is the best: writing a polite letter will often get you a reply. As an off-topic - interesting byline in a history magazine, in 1944, an american school kid as part of his school project wrote letters to all the well-known us generals. Surprisingly, he received shoulder army command patches from many of them - including Eisenhower. |

Correct. When my book on the Rumanian air force in WW2 was released, I sent two copies to the residence in Switzerland of King Michael I. One was dedicated my me to him, the other left blank. I asked him to dedicate it to me. After a few weeks, I received the book back, signed (but without a specific dedication). It's one of the most cherished signed books from my collection (and I have over 100). Gen. Dénes This post has been edited by Dénes on May 10, 2009 07:45 am |
