The event occurred last night and the media claims it is the biggest heist from a military base in Romania. Pam-pam! biggrin.gif

For now the unofficial information is: 53 Ak-47, 3 PKM and 25 Carpati pistols.

I've seen some "theories" on TV and here's my opinion on them.

Thinking they stole the weapons in order to sell them to some "conflict areas" abroad is silly because the value of what they stole is smaller than the risks they put themselves at.

The theory that they stole them in order to sell them to the Romanian underworld is put to question by the presence of AKMs. I am surprised no RPGs are present in their "shopping" list, or maybe the authorities don't want to scare the people.

The idea that they did not take ammo is strange. Again maybe the authorities don't want to scare the people.

Most certanly the amo was kept in a separate place as is customary in all military units.
The "mitraliera pe afet" was a DSK (Dushka ) ?

A different place as in a different room/compartment within the same storage site.

Update: Some arrests were made but no news on the weapons being found.

I've read that the MoD now plans to destroy weapons and ammunitions in order to lower the number of storage sites.

A bank's armored car was robbed today. The security guards said that the robbers had AKs.

Did you hear that the police thinks the attackers could be Ukrainians! And that they could have crossed back into Ukraine! That could only mean our borders are swiss-cheese and our security 0. But at least we're protecting Afghanistan's border. laugh.gif

Hey, it's not as if we're at the border of European Union or we want access to Schengen space or even that we have a veeeery efficient and expensive surveillance system at the borders! Or is it?
I don't think the perpetrators escaped to Ukraine, though... they'll appear, because the electoral campaign is in progress. Let's see who's going to win from their not-so-fast capture - but my money is on that they'll be caught within a month from the fact!

Not that again. Why do some folks believe everything evolves around the political campaign? This is the third year with a political campaign and most people in this country don't give a damn about it anyway.
