You should try to go to a romanian flea market. |

Mihnea, That is what I thought and wanted to double check before putting it out on the yahoo group here. As for Paul, he's taking orders for the uniform set now. Has three and needs total of five to begin production. Rob |

What is the shade of green used by the Romanian army for their helmets? Just incase the need arises to repaint it properly.

I think this is the helmet for the pre '89 Civil Defence troops (Apararea Civila) but I am not sure.

Hello Constantin,
This Kajov has had these helmets for sale for a couple of years already. I think they are fake and ridiculously expensive. I would not touch them. He has more, but way too expensive for my taste. Regards, Emile |

Kajov's prices are ridiculously high. However, he does have a source for some very interesting and authentic items. From what I seen for sale, they are items not found at the weekend fleamarket. |

Kajov has some interesting helmets indeed.
Many are in bad condition, though. Some without liner etc. etc. Still he charges sky high prices. To my mind not in relation to the condition of the helmet. I hardly see any movement in his stock. No surprise??! Regards, Emile |

Looking through my romanian ww2 helmets (dutch m34), I have found another interesting mark (on a m34 with german interior). It is at the end of a chinstrap, my guess is that's a german chinstrap, judging after the replaceable pins (rivets) for it and the chinstrap's buckle.
Just look at the photo... This post has been edited by ANDI on December 13, 2007 08:59 pm |

Very nice but I'm 90% sure it's a Romanian marking not German, TR might stand for "transformat" . Also the chis strap looks German.

The chin strap is 100% German i am 100% sure because i compared it to the one from my M42 Helmet.

yesterday i got a m27 helmet with the Romanian crest on front. it looks very good and it is placed on the right way. i have never seen a m27 before with the crest on front. VERBLIFA only sold the m34 to the Romanian ARMY IN 1938/1939. the helmet still has the original dutch liner and has been overpainted in a lighter olive green colour. on the inside the original dutch dark green colour is still visible. the rivets are larger than the original and they are chrome. i know that after the capitulation of Holland the germans sent a lot of dutch helmets to Romania including m27 helmets. i wil make some pics and post them. i hope to get info to find out if this is a good helmet knowing that there are fakes around.
thanks |

well, i do belive this is a good helmet and not a fake. i have seen this type of rivets before on a Romanian WW2 helmet. i think this helmet was captured by the Germans after Holland capitulated in may 1940 and sent to Romania between may 1940 and 6th september 1940(the day that King Carol II was abdicated). this is probably why a crest was put on and the helmet painted in the correct army colour. also the crest seen very good and authentic. my next post will be some detail pics from the crest. |
