Amazing collection of helmets unfortunately most of them are missing the original paint job (have a horrible Communist Era paint) and original chin straps. But the one that had the cipher removed and has a strange brow interior has most of the original paint. smile.gif

Where are the pictures of the last helmet?

Yes I know that many of my helmets have comunist era paint, but If I try I can get it off. As you can see in the pictures my helmets have also a little bit of it's original paint. also have ssh40 helmets that also have this kind of paint( I will put pictures later), but because it is a bad paint it's getting off the helmet and leaving the original paint on.

What helmets don't have the original chin straps. I think all are original ww2. Yes i know that some chin straps are different but i think they were changed in the field. If not please tell me what kind of chin straps they are.

I was going to advise you to do that, to at least one of the helmets as you have many repainted.

And as another advice you could clean up this one, as it is the only one that has the original buckle for the chin strap:

Mihnea I tried to clean it but i can't because the dust is beded with the paint. When I've got the helmet it was really dirty because it stood 60years in an army depo. This is all that I can do. If you can tell me some good methods i will try them.

I started cleaning the helmet with a niddle because I didn't have a blade, but I was surprised when I sow how efficient it is. Here is a photo with the helmet after some cleaning. I will try to clean it all.

Oaw! I was going to suggest to use paint stripper (diluant) or nail cleaner (acetona), you can use them on the leather.

Do you really mean needle (ac)??

Can't wait for the end result. smile.gif

Yes a needle. It's good work and is quite easy. The paint if you look closer it's easily scratched, but I think it doesn't matter. In the end the helmet will look great in it's original colour. Don't you think?

Here is the helmet almost finished. It was a hard work because in some areas of the helmet the paint was so thin and in other aresa there was rust under the comunist paint. I think I did a good job.
