I just bought this helmet what can you tell ma about it? I sow that it's the same like a Border Guard helmet but the color at mine is red (I think because it was exposed to the sun). The eagle is missing and also the front emblem, the leather it's compleat also the chinstrapp. Here is the only photo I have until the helmet will come .

Fireman? This could explain the missing of the eagle and of emblem, also the color.

I am thinkg on the same line. A converted helmet for a local firman of some sort. The Fireman of the period were under Military juristiction, so to have a military helmet converted makes sense.

The only other time I have seen the color red used is for Musicians like in the Imperial Russian Army. However, I do not know if the same applied in the Royal Romanian Army.

The Imperial Gremans also had a system of colored red helmets for Musicians.

Very Interesting. Would you consider the red color to be a primer or the natural color of the leather ?
