I don't think I will restore the helmet, I like it the way it is. I will make some changes to the helmet, like sewing the back leather, and to align the aluminium band from the back leather. That's all I will do to the helmet.

During those years aluminium was a very precious metal... don't think it is aluminium.

It is harder than aluminum but looks like a light weight silver pot metal. Could be very crude aluminum. I don't know this other metal called alpaca. One thing I have noticed about this eagle is that the feather details are not very finely done like you find on other european helmets. It was made from a cast and could be easilly duplicated.
