Alpaca ()the metal not the South american animal) was very populat in the 19-and first half of the 20).
It contains Nichel,copper and zinc.
Don't remember teh exact quant.
It looks like silver but lighter and harder.
The color remainds also of teh aluminium.

Then I would say that it is made of Alpaca. Looks like silver pot metal but harder than silver and aluminum. When I say pot metal, it means that it is a combination of metals.

Yes, alpaca is a very good possibility IMO. The German ehrenpokal was also commonly made of alpaca.

The metal looked good-silver like,but cheeper.
Was used a lot with forks ,knives and spoons.

The English word for that alloy is "pewter" - this may help with your searches and descriptions.
