Recently, a controversy errupted in Tg.Mures, where a project has been approved by the local council to erect a statue to Gen. Stefan Gusa, Chief of Staff of the Rumanian Army between 1986-1989.

While the local Rumanian language newspaper hail him as a hero of the Revolution of Timisioara (Dec. 1989), the Hungarian language newspapers portay him as one of the responsibles for the murder of civilian revolutionaries by the military.

Which side is close(er) to historical facts?

Its hard to say, but no matter the actual facts, both sides will view him from their own perspective. And believe the facts which reinforce their perspective; while ignoring, rejecting or debunking the facts that challenge their view of the! unsure.gif
