P.S.: I am not in the category denying the holocaust and then claiming freedom of speech. However, there are too many other untouchable subjects.

I apologise for using the word "you" in those examples...maybe the word "one" would have been more suitable just to make sure that they are taken as generic rather than specific examples. They are just examples in which freedom of expression may be limited. ;-) I never meant to imply that you partake in such... :-)

No need to raise a white flag either. This is not a battle and we seem to agree with each other in general anyway.

So much drama over something that does not even exist yet! But will surely make Romania a target!

I agree.

This means since 1711. And it was since that time, indeed.

Twelve Russian invasions on Romanian soil since that date. Sure we are a target.

Ah well, that is a bit misleading... A more accurate description would be that the Russians fought the Ottoman empire on Romanian soil. Many Romanians conveniently forget that what we call Romania today was part of the Ottoman Empire for over 400 years and the Russians and Turks were at war for a long part of that time. Some Romanians conveniently forget that it was also the Russians who helped us get our independence from the Ottoman empire in 1877 as part of that long Russo-Turkish campaign of wars.
It is interesting to note that the year 1711 was mentioned. Dimitrie Cantemir who ruled Moldova (with support from the Porte) granted suzeranity over Bessarabia to the Russians "cu acte in regula" (treaty signed in Lutsk) in exchange for help to break Moldova free from the Porte. He failed. Google Cantemir and the battle of Stanilesti for more info.

He placed Moldavia, his entire "domain", under Russian protection / suzeranity, not Bessarabia! Perhaps there's access to some copy of the treaty, to "enlighten" us...

Apologies, that was a "keyboard slip"... I meant "Moldova" rather than "Bassarabia". I was addled by the overwhelming "voceabasarabiei" effluvium and I had Bessarabia ringing in my head. rolleyes.gif

Well, i know we was a vassal to Ottoman empire, not part of it, so a quite diferent thing.
And Russia in 1877 didnt come here for the love of us, to help us, but had her own interests of expansion.
In 1877-1878 we was already independent "de facto", and Russians conveniently seem to forget too that asked for our help, to win that war
