Hallo Victor,
Even if it seems a rupture of this thema to speak about Guard Troops in the ages of the communist rule, I am interested about the refoundation of the Guard troops after the 50's until 1989 and after... I read somewhere about a unit -Batalionul 320 Infanterie Moto de Garda in 1957 or so...
Thank you!

On 15 January 1948, the Republican Guard Battalion was formed. On 15 mrch, it was united with the Armed Forces Ministry Security Battalion to form the Republican Guard Regiment. This organization lasted until 10 June 1949, when the regiment became again the Republican Guard Battalion. On 22 December 1951, the unit was renamed the 320th Guard Battalion. Two years later, on 1 December 1953, the battalion was again renamed 320th Security Battalion. It was no longer used for official guard duties at the palace.

On 28 February 1964 was created the 30th Guard Regiment, using the 320th Security battalion and men brought over from the frontier guards. A new uniform was adopted with this occasion, an uniform that broke a little bit from the Soviet line.

During the events in December 1989, the Regiment lost 15 men. However, after the new government was set in, the regiment received the guard duties for the Presidential Palace, the Government and the Parliment.

On 1 March 1990, it became the 30th Guard Brigade. On 1 December the same year, the new uniform, which we all know now, was worn for the first time by the 30th Guard Brigade.

Exactly when the 30th guard Brigde became again a regiment, I don't remember.
