http://www.jpost.com/International/Article.aspx?id=182803 So Romanian soldiers are under IDF orders over there? Is that normal procedure? I doubt it's an error in reporting since Yaakov Katz is a military analyst, not a pitzipoanca with a Spiru Haret degree and a laptop. -------------------- I

Well, I guess this is the Israelian point of view! Ours might be different: "the Romanian forces in the area offered their full cooperation to the IDF in finding the victims of the accident" or something like that...
BTW, what if IDF really asked us to secure the perimeter? Wouldn't that be the normal procedure anyway? -------------------- M

When it occured, the news was also on Bloomberg TV, as subtitles during something else.
Surprisingly enough, because it has nothing to do with economy or economics. Otherwise, you would not notice Romania on Bloomberg TV for months in a row. So we have joint exercises with IDF... That reminds me of the old days before 1989, when we were everybody's friend in the same time. This post has been edited by Florin on July 28, 2010 07:21 am |

As the helicopter was Israeli they more than likely asked for cooperation in securing the crash site, as opposed to ordering people around, their (Israeli) first priority being the recovery of as much of the remains of the crew that perished, than to probe the wreckage for the cause of the crash.
Those killed were:- Israeli Defence Forces:- * Lieutenant Colonel (res.) Avner Goldman * Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Shipenbauer * Major Lior Shai * Major Yahel Keshet * Staff Sergeant Oren Cohen * Lieutenant Nir Lakrif Romanian Military Forces:- * Captain Stefan-Claudiu Dragnea. May they Rest In Peace Sympathy & Condolences to their Family, Friends & Comrades |

At least one of the Israelies is a woman.
Yael is woman's name. Also the name Lior is unisex. I wonder,do the carpatrians mountains have the same profile as the Iranian mountains? This is the third IAF CH 53 accident siince early 70's. One was in 77 with about 28 dead. The second was in 97 when two colided with over 100 killed. This post has been edited by C-2 on July 28, 2010 07:32 pm |

Unless there is some humongous plan to silence the many Iranian AA sites
that are located all over the country then I very much doubt any I.A.F. / I.D.F. helicopter borne mission over there in the near future. Some pictures of the I.D.F. personnel have been shown on Romanian t.v. but no woman's picture seen as yet or confirmation that one or more of the crew was female. Kevin in Deva. |

"Imperialist" or "Agarici": Would you be so kind to translate in English the French quote, and spare me the time of trying a bad translation from French?
In regard with the quote from C-2: "I wonder,do the carpatrians mountains have the same profile as the Iranian mountains?" I understand these exercises for IDF were previously in Turkey. This makes me think the Turks did not show them the tough terrain in the East of Turkey, were many peaks are over 4000 meters. I crossed Turkey by bus in 1994. On the other side, the Romanians mountains are not that high, but they can offer quite a surprise occasionally. I understand the accident occured on fog time, in a valley surrounded by vertical peaks. What surprises me in this matter is the fact that a modern helicopter is supposed to have a kind of "vision" for fog or night. This post has been edited by Florin on July 29, 2010 05:53 pm |

"Americans, Israelis and Romanians. What more could they conspire against other people? There is no doubt an illegal and unjustified war being prepared somewhere." Or a Google translation version: American, Israeli and Romanian. What can they still scheming against other peoples? There are probably illegal and unjustified war in the pipeline somewhere. -------------------- I

Thank you. These countries who used to be great powers once upon a time (France, Great Britain, Germany) still have difficulties to grasp that they are a shadow of their old glory. To cope with the harsh reality of the present and to lift their self-esteem somehow, they try to pick up the other countries problems (not only Romania's) to confirm that they are somehow superior to the rest of the people. They have themselves many of the bad things they are showing about Romania or other countries. This post has been edited by Florin on July 30, 2010 02:47 am |
