It is indicated that in the 1941 infantry divisions "even" numbered artillery regiments had 1 battalion of 75mm guns and one battalion of 100mm howitzers; whereas "odd" numbered artillery regiments had 2 battalions with 75mm guns and one of 100mm howitzers.
But... – The 4th Infantry Division had the 2nd and 10th Artillery Regiments, – The 7th Infantry Division had the 4th and 8th Artillery Regiments, – The 13th Infantry Division had the 19th and 41st Artillery Regiments. – The 15th Infantry Division had the 23rd and 25st Artillery Regiments. So, which of these regiments had two 75mm gun battalions, and which ones had only one 75mm gun battalion? According to what you wrote, the facts should be the following:
The 4th infantry division - the 2nd & 10th artillery regiments - 1 battalion of 75mm guns and 1 battalion of 100mm howitzers, The 7th infantry division - the 4th & 8th artillery regiments - the same as above, The 13th infantry division 19th & 41st artillery regiments - 2 battalions of 75mm guns and 1 battalion of 100mm howitzers. |

Semantically and logically, that is correct. However, the same sources also state that all divisions had one regiment of each type. Hence my question.

According to the book "Romanian army 1941 - 1945", the situation you've mentioned in the start of this topic refered to the romanian units from the summer of 1941.
But, in the winter of 1941/1942, as a result of the experience gained on the battlefield, the artillery regiments were reorganized and the "odd" nembered ones were reduced to only 1 battalion of 75mm guns and 1 battalion of 100mm howitzers, the same situation as the "even" numbered ones. |

Hehe,it seems that I started with left foot in this forum.
In this case will probably need an expert opinion. |

Just discovered the downloadable book "165 ani de Existenta a Artileriei Romane Moderne" on this forum's thread:
New (2008) book about Romanian artillery which details the artillery of the corps, divisions, and brigades between pages 108-110. I can understand much with my rusty knowledge of various Romance languages, but I am certain many details and nuances elude me. Unfortunately, the text is locked. So now I have to find a one online where the text can be copied and pasted into a translation program... Cheers Leo -------------------- !

The table is relatively simple to understand, the only columns which could create problems are probably:
Nr. Dn. T. -> number of field gun battalions Nr. Dn. Ob. -> number of howitzer battalions If there is anything specific about the text I am sure we can help you with it. Online translators may not work properly when dealing with more technical texts such as this one. |

1. Thank you, Victor, and others who have contacted me directly with offers to assist in translating the text of this book. The parts taken are sufficient for the moment. This is like any research, one flys over the text, and stops at possibly interesting parts. At which point one starts to do a more careful reading -> or hopefully, in this case, translating. Of course, I would like to be able to read the entire book, at least those portions pertaining to WWII. Hence me searching for a version with "copyable" text.
2. Having said all that, perhaps someone could discover the types artillery battalions for the Artillery Brigades for the 27th and 32nd Reserve Infantry Divisions? Divisional headquarters locations and commanders? See here what I have/am missing: Rumanian 1941 Infantry Division Cheers Leo -------------------- !

If you have a "Select" tool on the menu bar, you should be able to copy/paste. Montbrun aka Brad Hunter |

I have Acrobat Professional, and it includes the "Select" tool. However, the selected text of the referenced manuscript cannot be copied as it is locked. (See "Document Properties" under "File", and then click "Security"). Or am I missing something?
I am looking for organizations applicable to the infantry divisions in June 1941. Specifically: 1. What kind of artillery battalions (gun or howitzer), and how many of each, were in the artillery regiments of the 27. and 32. Reserve Infantry Divisions. 2. The locations of the headquarters of the 27., 30., 31., 32., 35. Reserve Infantry Divisions. 3. The commanders of the 27., 30., 32. Reserve Infantry Divisions. Cheers Leo -------------------- !
