information about 40th infrantry regt.

I bought a original post card/letter of a soldier in the 40th infrantry regt,dated in the late part of feburary 1942 and was posted around the first week of march,can anyone give me some detail about this unit and where this soldier location was during his writing?
Was this regiment part of the 9th div?
Any chance of finding a photo of this soldier at all?

During February, 1942, the Divizia 9 Infanterie was assigned to the Corpul 2 Armata, and on occupation duty along the Don River.

The front was pretty far from Don River in the Southern sector in February 1942.

Actually, 9-th Inf. Div. was sent - as part of II-nd Army Corps - on the Don's bend front in the autumn of 1942! At least according to "Armata romana in al II-lea razboi mondial 1941-1945, dictionar enciclopedic", by Alesandru Duţu, Florica Dobre and Leonida Loghin! It makes a little more sense this way... because also the II-nd Army Corps was at Odessa in february 1942, acccording to the same source.
