Here are two photos from 1943. From the registration numbers of the vehicles (they are starting with "U") I guess that they were used by the Romanian Army.
The motorcycles from the background of the first photo are Zundapps. On the first photo there is a Romanian soldier. My question is what kind of soldier is the man that we can see in both photos? (Probably he is a Romanian saxon, since the inscription on the back of the photos are in German) This post has been edited by Ertogrul on September 21, 2010 05:58 pm |

Yes, both vehicles were used by the Rumanian army.
Very nice photos. Do you have more? Gen. Dénes |

It looks like Zundapp KS750 to me, but BMW R75 and Zundapp KS750 shared many parts (70% or so).

Judging by the shadow text over the image, looks like a scan from a book. |

The rank seems to be First Sergeant (Sergent-Major), as I notice one and a half stripes. I don't know what weapon, though I suspect ('cause of the motorcycle) he might belong to cavalry (a reconnaissance squad or something); also, his trousers are another colour than his blouse. My 2 cents...
LE: the motorbike seems rather a BMW R75: check out the round insignia on the tank! This post has been edited by MMM on September 30, 2010 10:03 am -------------------- M

I said "I think"... also based on today's images of 70-years old motorcycles...
Not very precise and easily to "google up". RE the column in the 3-rd photo: good target for VVS! -------------------- M

OoT: probably not, but did you see the plane in the first photo? Could that be a Fieseler Storch or something? In the left upper corner of the presumed BMW-fan...

Hard to say,but the profile indeed seems to be of a FS fi 156.Depending of when the picture was taken,it could be one assembled in Romania.

Thanks for the help MMM! The motorcycle is a BMW indeed, as I wrote in the title of this topic too. The inscription on the back of the photo says: "B.M.W - Motorrad 500 ccm. Links Zundapp mit Beiwagen 750 ccm. Im April 1943." |

Plane? where? On the first photo, in the upper left corner is just an error of the photo. |
