My uncle was a Romanian refugee from Northern Transylvania; after the Vienna Diktat he fled to Brasov, where he enlisted in the Romanian Army; he was sent to Odessa, where he died during a bombing of the railroad station.
I would be interested in any documents related to this event, perhaps lists of names. thank you Simleuan This post has been edited by simleuan on December 30, 2010 06:17 am |

If you don't have more details, it's impossible! The Soviets bombed our troops many times during the three months of the "siege"; also, there were tens of thousands of Romanian casualties, from which thousands of dead soldiers! It's the legendary "needle in the haystack"...

It's a list of soldiers who were buried in area administered by the Severinovka gendarmerie station. For each one is mentioned the rank and the unit they were part of.

It is something like this :
Mr. Governor (Prefect) For all your care, attention and parental love for the descendants of the heroes, that like all of us, on the initiative of our leaders, you carry, we express by this humble postcard, before crossing the border of Odessa County, who proudly you drive, our warmest thanks and gratitude. A group from the free country. The special train June 4th, 1941 (?) Vigoda station |

Romania started war in East in 21 June 1941, isnt it? How could this postcard be issued on 4 June 1941 in Odessa county (judet) by romanians? (I also readed the date 1941 on the photo posted...maybe it is not 1941?)
