I just came across the following text:
"Walter Girg won his RK as a troop leader in Otto Skorzeny's SS Jäger Bataillon 502. Wearing Rumanian uniforms, he and his unit conducted sabotage actions behind Russian lines in Romania [in Aug./Sept. 1944]. He was captured and sentanced to death. Before they could carry out the execution, Girg escaped." Does anyone know further details of this action, code named 'Operation Landfried'? Gen. Dénes |

We don't know him. We know Otto. He was an austrian. He as the commander of Sonderverband z. b. V. that later became known as SS Jagdverbande 502. He also was in charge with Operation "Greif" and "Werwolf" in 44-45. Someof his missions failed. I mean Yugoslavia, Iran, Werenwolf, etc. But Unternehmen Eiche, Unternehmen Greif or Francois are very well known. I must say, in case you don't know, Otto Skorzeny was recruited in the late 44 by the americans, using Rats Pathway plan, with Geheim's help.
