What did Romanian soldiers do for leisure during World War II?

What did they drink? Did they smoke cigarettes, or a pipe? What card games were popular?

From my pictures: smoking a pipe, cleaning clothes from lice, eating, etc.

From a ww2 romanian veteran i interviewed: he and his mates played "bâza".

I have also one photo where they are dancing, and one of them is playing an acordeon.

As far as I remember from my army times, "biza" and "fripta" were two different games.

Friptea is what Dobran playing.

Baza was also played by the germans.
Ther's a short moovie about Adolf Galland at the Battle of Br.
The pilots in his squadron are playing Baza just before the alarm sounds.
I hope I'll find the link....

I remeber my grandfather told me the germans used to eat a lot of horse meat. They used to do meatballs and other stuff that romanians disliked and also they were sometimes very hungry, they prefered not to eat that kind of meat.

At his origines,the famous Salam De Sibiu was made from horse meat.

And chicken - in equal proportions - half a chicken and half a horse are mixed up and they make salami out of it. Communist era joke.

It's a myth, it was not made from horse meat.

I have seen pictures from WWI of romanian soldiers playing some sort of bowling and lapte gros. Probably the main pastime was finding more food and sleeping.

I was wrong, they are not playing "lapte gros" they seem to "sara capra" but it seems it's funny other ways I don't see way they would do it, and with all thous kids around it doesn't seem that they are training.
