Hi, was the 7.5cm Schneider-Putilov field gun model 1902/36 used by the Cavalry and the 7.5cm Krupp M.1907/12 field gun used by the Army, if so what was the main 75mm before the Romanians captured the 75mm 1902/36 was it the 75mm 1987.

According to what I know, the quick-firing field guns in the Romanian army were:
From early 1900s, Krupp 75 mm mod. 1904 (“Romanian”) for the infantry divisions, and mod. 1908 (“cavalry gun”) for the cavalry - modified/improved German model on request by a Romanian comission, special order + 1915-1916 onwards, Schneider 75 mm mod. 1897 (infantry) - imports form France starting 1915 + 1917-1918 onwards, Schneider-Putilov mod 1902 76,2 mm (infantry, later modernized and retubed to 75 mm as 1902/1936) - captured/ceded from/by the former Russian Imperial Army [ + 1928 Skoda 75 mm (and earlier Skoda 75 mm models, captured during/after WW 1?) ] + early 1930s onwards, Skoda 100 mm field howitzers (various models) + late 1941/early 1942 (but perhaps introduced later), captured (and retubed) Soviet field 76,2 mm (various models), substituting older Schneider-Putilovs This post has been edited by Agarici on March 12, 2011 07:21 pm |

Thanks Agarici, the main site has 4 x types of weapon,
7.5cm Schneider-Putilov field gun model 1902/36 7.5cm Krupp field gun model 1907/12 7.5cm Skoda field gun model 1928 7.6cm field gun model 1942 And I even found a picture of a French 75mm mle 1897 what was used by the Romanians during WW2. So what I said is consistent with what is written on the site. Although I doubt the Krupp (75 mm) could had been a 1907/1912 model. The Krupp guns ordered and used by the Romanian army before WW 1 were the "Romanian" (quoting a speech of the Romanian prime-minister A. D. Sturdza in the Parliament) 1904 model, and the 1908 model. As for using German Krupp guns captured during the war, this seem to me highly unlikely since, from what I know, they used the 77 mm caliber for their field cannons in WW 1. Yes Agarici your data dose match which was pretty helpful, going back to these 75mm guns, which would have been the most numerous in 1941-43 the 75mm M.1902/36 or the 75mm M.1928.
