About 50 km north from my home town - Olsztyn, in Lidzbark Warminski, there is a forgotten place of history of I World War. Local people call it "The Romanian Cemetery". It is probably the only one cemetery of Romanian soldiers of 1st World War in Poland. Romanians, who are having eternal rest there, were prisoners of war, who were settled in East Prussia. There is 509 Romanian Soldiers burried there.
In the communist era, when Lidzbark Warminski became part of Poland, this place was forgotten. Communists were not interested in remembrance of 1st World War. Now I go there whenever I can to light a candle. This soldiers should not be forgotten. I wonder if there are informations about German POW camps in East Prussia and Romanians who were imprisoned there. These are the photos of the Romanian Cemetery http://mojemazury.pl/6820-0,Lidzbark-Warmi...ski,169635.html Greetings Adamescu |
