At April 6th, 1911, Horia Agarici was born in Switzland, Lausanne. He became famous in Romania after June 22nd, 1944, when he downed three of the third wave (probably) of Soviet bombers who atacked Constanta. Later the same summer he had another two victories over the Danube Delta - two I-15. And another victory over a B24 on April 4th, 1944. He also, had a probably victory. He died in 1982 and is burried in Constanta. How many children he had? I know his first boy died at the age of 1 on 4th or 5th April 1944. Soon after the war he had a doughter and another son, but I read he had many. There are many chance that some of his children still living. And a second qouestion. It seems that nobody have the song ,,A plecat la vanatoare Agarici...'', and is clear why: communism, Securitate etc. Anyway, what do you know about the chance to find the song, somewhere, even abroad... Did Jean Moscopol recorded it in USA, as he did with many anticommunist songs?
Thank you! C_F |

From some texts (e-book...) of russian internet :
The first soviet bombers have come to Constanta at 06.35. Till 07.42, 33 DB-3 and 27 SB attacked the granary and his elevator, the petrol harbour and petrol area, the airdrome Mamaia and the battery Tataia. The opponent has rendered strong counteraction. As Romanians marked, in the city and in the fortress were serious destructions, but the airdromes have not suffered, and the Romanian fighters free operated. The fighters of the air defence Constanta which flied on interception have not achieved any successes that day. And here, Lt.Н.Agarici from the 53rd squadron, to which the commander of the squadron, Cpt.Е.Georgescu has ordered to overtake his Hurricane for repair in Bucuresti, on a twist of fate, has unexpectedly come across the coming back SB group. The Romanian pilot has taken the advantage of the given chance and has announced three victories, two of which with funerals. In fact, one bomber of the 1st. squadron/40 BAP has been brought down and the fate of the crew remained unknown. Dandy, frivolous officer, lover of brag, can be considered as a typical representative of ARR, soon became widely known in the country: it managed to knock down the first enemy bomber over romanian territory. Besides the brother of the pilot was a known composer and has written next day a song «Agarici forces down Bolsheviks», become a smash hit. Although, as far as we know, Agarici did not achieve any more success in the air war, his name remains popular till the autumn of 1944. The New power has not forgotten about ... Meanwhile, the attack of Soviet aircraft continued. Another two groups of DB-3 bombers from the 2nd MTAP, on June 23 penetrated to Constanta. ..... That day the Romanian aircraft has opened the fighting account. Lt. H.Agarici from the 53rd squadron on "Hurricane" with a board number "1” has authentically brought down two SB and presumably one more. On this, its big brother, a fashionable Bucharest composer, has responded with a song" Agarici thrashes bolsheviks" which instantly became a smash hit. Subsequently it cost much to brothers. Despite the fact that Agarichi any fighting success has no longer acheived and Romania ended the war ally of the USSR, the two brothers have been subjected to repression... ..... Lt.H.Agarici claimed that knocked on his "Hurricane" two SB. His older brother - a fashionable composer in Bucharest - quickly counted and and released a record (as they say now, "album") with the title "Agarici thrashes the bolsheviks". When "the bolsheviks" came to power in Romania.... This post has been edited by Petre on April 30, 2011 05:32 pm |
