Can someone help me in completing the list of aircraft ( only fighters & bombers ) used by the minor axis nations during Op. Barbarossa ?
I have so far Italy : Macchi 200 Saetta Slovakia : Letov S-328 , Avia B-543 Croatia : ? Finland : ? Hungary : CR.32bis, CR.42, Ju 86K-2, Ca.135bis, Reggiane 2000 I got Rom covered, also are these infos re. VVS correct more or less ? ( I'm interested only in the types of airplane used ) http://operationbarbarossa.net/OBTCMS/Part...ingrad%20MD.pdf Thanks in advance ! They seem to be the right types used by the VVS, but that particular reference is ony for Leningrad! (I mean, I hope you noticed that...).
Re: Fiinish Air Forces, I can "help" with some types of planes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finnish_Air_F...1941.E2.80.9344 They seem to be right, even if they're from wikipedia. I can "voucher" for the Brewsters, Gladiators and Fokkers - and even for the Italian G 50's... This post has been edited by MMM on January 25, 2011 12:57 pm -------------------- M

RE Finland it's not quite clear to me if they used the air force only for home defense or also for attacks in soviet territory.
Also if you have any other links regarding both sides ( but airforce only ) please share, i only found numbers/data regarding the land armies and so on. I found some info regarding Croatia in the meantime http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croatian_Air_...n_Front_1941-43 Also found this gigantic map which has all the info, some essential parts are missing though : http://www.krunch.ru/mapsonline.htm Italy : Macchi 200 Saetta Slovakia : Letov S-328 , Avia B-543 Croatia : Me 109, Do-17z Finland : ? Hungary : CR.32bis, CR.42, Ju 86K-2, Ca.135bis, Reggiane 2000 This post has been edited by muggs on January 25, 2011 02:47 pm |

As long as they had bombers, they must have used them somehow, right?

Yeah i guess, although : The Finnish Air Force did not bomb any civilian targets during either war.[6] Curiously, overflying Soviet towns and bases was also forbidden, as to avoid any unneeded provocations and to spare equipment.
I will try to get Denes's 2 volumes on the subject, maybe there's more info in there. |
