I would appreciate an expert opinion on who shot down
Adj Av.Codruz on his HE-112B in June 41. At page 15
Aviazia Romana in WW2 by Robanescu, he states that
he was shot down by Kozachenko near Bolgrod as
leader of 249 IAP. Kozachenko never led the 249
but WWII Russian aces website repeating the claim.

Reliable Russian sources indicating that Codruz was
shot down by M.S.Maximov which may or may have
not been with Kozachenko in formation.

Also I need some clarity on Agarici 3 DB-3's claim, was
it on June 23rd or June 25th ? were these DB-3 or SB-2's
at what airfield in Russia the 3rd damaged bomber land
and what was the Russian pilot name who crash landed
near Mamaia and was taken POW along with the crew ?

Thanks

Russian book :
QUOTE
... Lt. H. Agarici... claimed three victories... In fact just one bomber SB-2 has been shot down, it was from the 1st Squadron of the 40th BAP, Pilot was Lt. I. Nikonov, and the fate of the crew remained unknown.

Russian book :
QUOTE
Lt. H.Agarici, from the 53 sq. on Hurricane No.1, authentically shot down two SB-2 and presumably one more.

Petre

According the Russian OBD Archives Nikiforov was KIA on
June 23,41 while flying for 3 URAP (40 AP) on a DB-3
and not in June 24th...I have complete records of all
BMF 4th Fleet pilots KIA in Romania between June 23rd
and Oct 1941...If I'd know for sure when Agarici claimed
his SB's or DB's I could then tell the pilot names he brought
down.

Thanks

Petre

Thank you for your input..I was aware about Agarici
articles on here...as into the Russian Aviation site
Yelena_Tom is my wife and she is writting on my
behalf in Russian as I don't speak well Russian.

As of yet no one can tell a reliable date when
Agarici brought down the 3 URAP ( 40 AP ) pilots
while there are Russian sources citing that in reality
he brought only one down and not DB but SB.

Additionally the SG2 books I have at my end seems
confused about the score date.

Best Regards

Lt. av. Horia Agarici took off on 23 June at 06:15 a.m.
All three wreckages of the SBs downed by him were identified on the ground.
You can see him posing near one of his victims, No. 6, on page 26 of my aforementioned book.

Denes

According Agarici , he gave an interview on Radio or TV during his life
time which is available on Internet. He stated that he saw two DB's going down
( one still carrying his complete ordonance diving into the sea ) and the other crash landed at a weapon range near Mamaia. 3rd one made an emergency
landing at Bolgrad. Pse clarify again regarding your remark on the 3 wreckages .

As into your books I guess you reffered from Barbarosa to Odessa, if thats the case, then is still its on its way to me. Your second is no longer available at Amazon

Thank you

The best source are the archivs documents and the after combat reports.
Usually the memories of people are not so precise after some years.
