I have a question concerning the use of the Romanian water bottle which resembles the Austrian WW1 type. Does anyone have an example or picture of (other than Kepi's drawing) the cover/holder used by Romanian troops? Was there a hook, was it attached to the bottle or the cover?

The steel canteens used in WWII had no cover, as far as I have seen in photos. Kepi made a mistake in his drawing he misinterpreted the M 32 gas mask filter seen inside the gas mask bag. This mistakes is visible in the drawings he made in the early 1990's (including the Osprey) and it's not the only one.

If they had a cover this cover would probably similar tot the one seen on the steel canteens made in the early 50's with the steel cup on top.

Thanks. I have not seen an example. I have a Austrian WW1 bottle and was looking for a way to utilize it accurately for an impression. I am probably better off using a German WW2.
