I've read in an article in "Document" (the bulletin of the Military Archives) that we had at a certain moment (after 1921) an english naval mission in Romania, led by a "commander Thompson", but I've found no other reference to that, on the Internet and other books.
Does anybody know anything? This post has been edited by MMM on August 24, 2011 04:11 pm -------------------- M

Thanks! It seems there's a mistake in that article, as this Thomson was in Romania before and during WWI, not afterwards! Or, again, maybe it's another person, Thompson, not Thomson... who knows?

Right after WWI, the Romanian Navy wanted to buy the coastal battleship HMS Gorgon and 6 M-class destroyers from the Royal Navy. Nothing came of it. Maybe this was the reason for the "Thomson visit".
