Photos of Romanian army in Budapest

I got an e mail from my cousin with 35 rare photos.
The photos can be found on the net but due to eventual copyrights dispute,I won't post them.
I'll make a forward to Dragos and hopefuly he'll post the link (since I don't know how).

Dragos must be dead or something.....

If you'll give us additional information about that website / web link, that is not your copyright infringement. Presenting a website with questionable copyright photos does make you responsible of copyright infringement.

Following this, the photos don't need to be shown here. But you can offer the web link.
The uncle of my grandfather was among the other Romanian soldiers in Budapest in 1919, but I would not be able to identify him, regardless how clear any photo could be. He lived a long life and he died when I was in my early 20's, but I saw him only when I was 4 years old.

Later edit: at least a great part of photos are copyrighted by the Military Museum Bucharest. They are part of the photo collection of Comandamentul Trupelor din Transilvania.

Those pictures are in public domain, as their copyright has expired. As a courtesy though, it is required to mention their source, I think those pictures are from the History Museum in Bucharest (I might be wrong about the source...).

The source is Military Museum from Bucharest. The folder which contains these pictures is Comandamentul Trupelor din Transilvania and it has a total of 545 pics. Those pics mentioned above might be out of copyright period, but I personally cant tell.

In the collection of MMN Bucharest, the photos posted above are in the same folder with this one http://www.worldwar2.ro/forum/index.php?sh...135&#entry80830 (black&white, depicting 2 former combatants from Avram Iancu's army from 1848/1849). All pics from that email are made during the travel king Ferdinand I and queen Maria made in Transilvnaia in 1919.

The pics from the folder are made in Transylvania, in Hungary and during the romanian royal couple visit in Transylvania. Also, there are pics of a number of officers belonging to Comandamentul Trupelor din Transylvania. I'll post some pics from that folder bellow.

At least some of the pics has a wrong description. For example, photo number 18 says wrong that is made in the front of Oradea railwaystation. In fact, it is made in the center of Oradea. If one compare photo 18 with 25 and 27 will see that it is the same stage in all pics and that this is in the centre of the city. The characters in the pic are named ok, but not the location.

Photo from the same collection, as I promised, in the center of Oradea, but made from the back of the stage where king and queen were standing. In the center of the image, a self-propelled gun, from a romanian transylvanian volunteer artillery regiment. The SPG was formerly owned by russian army, maybe captured by romanian army from russians in 1918, during bolshevic revolution. This SPG fought on Tisa in 1919. The only SPG units in romanian army operating in 1919 in Hungary were belonging to romanian transylvanian volunteer regiments.

Photo 19 and 20 from the gallery I believe are made in Carei, not in Oradea. Photo 28 says wrongly that "ţărani bihoreni" (romanian peasants from Bihor county) pass in front of king and queen. Actually the pic is from Alba Iulia and in my image (from MMN), which is bigger, it is clearly seen that the second peasant rider carries an inscription which writes "Sebeş", which is a town in Alba county.

Also, photo 30 has a wrong legend. The pic is made in Bekescsaba, Hungary, not in Oradea.

No, they are not. They are to be found in the archives of Military Museum from Bucharest.

This is one thing that i'll never understand to be honest, there is this set of pics ( 500+ you said ) and i'm sure there's many others in the archive of MMN, most likely in the one of Muz. Aviatiei and the one of MNIR, that are not exhibited and not made available to the public via web or other means either, what's the point to all of this ?

If they can't exhibit it they should at least make albums and sell them, i for one buy printed material whenever i go to a museum, even if it's not of immediate interest to me but at least i know that with that money a small contribution is made directly towards that institution..this whole romanian concept of "keeping information where it should be" boggles me sometimes.
