An absolute shame!
I think that a protest march may work better. Gather as many people as possible using twitter, facebook, Hi5, whatever and march to Piata Victoriei.

Hmm, i really hope they will not be that insolents and stupid to do such things. Even if might be a political-economical deal, some things are too far for anybody, and i hope the common sense will prevail. Maybe was just a tasting of the public, to see the reaction, so its better to be a reaction, as bigger as better against such proposal.

Funny that the mayor didn't react, but instead MAPN reacted biggrin.gif

There is not that much space left, unless they go for the area adjacent to the Dimitrie Pompei Blvd. Why do I get the feeling that after they get the land, a private venture will offer a new terrain in exchange for this one and new office buildings will be built instead? It doesn't make too much sense to build apartments in one of the most crowded office building areas in Bucharest.

The first article posted by electric mentions that the "spot" is Strada Fabrica de Glucoza Nr. 2-4
To me, that sounds like the junction of Strada Fabrica de Glucoza with Strada Gara Herastrau.
That is where the entrance and offices of the museum are located.

Hello

I happen to work in an office building overlooking the aviation museum, so I know something about the situation "on the ground". I see that Victor has allso posted a satelite picture of the museum.
At this moment the museum has a lot of land that is not used or it is used inefficiently. The actual museum occupies a small building at the edge of its property. There are some more buildings but they appear not to be used. Perhaps they are abandoned or perhaps they are used as storage space (but I can't see what they might be storing there). They are not open for visitation anyway. Besides the museum proper, there are, as you can see in the picture, a large number of airplanes scattered around. What is not visible in the picture is that those aircraft being stored in the open air are in a very bad condition and continue to deteriorate. There should be some kind of a hangar or at least a shed to protect them from the elements. And they could allso use some restoration work.
So obviously the museum does not lack space, but (like many other museums in Romania) it probably lacks funds to maintain and restore the exhibits.
The land there is certainly very valuable and any building project there should be fairly profitable. So if you guys are going to start any kind of pressure group, then maybe you should not be against the project completely, but instead ask for a part of the profits generated to be directed o the museum so it can be renovated, before all those airplanes rust away. I certainly can't see any other easily available source of income

That's just my humble suggestion.
