Dear forum members!

Please help to identify rank of the man in this photo. Is this fruntas?

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,

Yes it could be a ”fruntaș” or a ”sergent” (if I'm not mistaking the difference is made by the colour and embroidery on the stripe), he probably wears the M1941 troop field uniform, his beret suggests he is serving with the elite mountain troops. What is he inspecting, a plane?

I want to see any photo, don't care if is gory of not (this „secrecy” among Romanian photo collectors is kinda strange, I encourage everybody to put a solid watermark on their photos and publish them on-line, this way everybody can learn something). Here is a interesting photo, maybe related, I guess the guy is a Russian pilot (or Romanian, German etc.), probably the Romanian mountain hunters were assigned to clear the battlefield of the dead when they were surprised by the photo camera of Alexandru Galaftion, the author of the photo, here something about his life and the source of the photo: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Viata-unui-e...126896260798213

Maybe it is something to do with respect for the dignity of the dead?

The way to post such an image is to put the link to it and to issue a warning about its graphic content. This way who wants to see it will follow the link and see it and the rest of the people wjo don't want to see it will not be forced to do it.

"Peacetime" has its share of brutal disasters and accidents too. wink.gif

The tailplanes look like Il-2. The Yak tailplanes were quite different. There is very little to go by anyway.

They saw these situations on a daily basis.
My grandfather was entertaining an idle chatter with unit's cook, while the latter was stirring the soup in a huge cooking vessel. Out of nowhere, a shrapnel severed a half of cook's head, and that half dropped into the soup.
As the soup was ready and expected by all guys around, they picked up the half head out from soup, then they served it.
But the few that saw it did not tell to those who didn't.
