Rugaminte tuturor!

On the subject of Delfinul, I just found a source stating that she had eight torpedo tubes. I would think this was simply a mistake except that it is an italian source specifically covering Italian export designs. Does anyone have a photo or official plans that can prove she had six tubes?

Can anybody please detail in what consisted the technical obsolescence/backwardness of NMS Delfinul? I’d heard different variants, referring to the battery which could not be recharged when the sub was navigating at the surface (???), about the not-reloadable torpedo tubes (???), about the extended period of time needed for diving, and even (in an pre-1989 “Modelism” issue - when it was only a modelistic supplement to “Tehnium” magazine) about a sort of “hump”/”hunch” which was added to the structure (at Fiume, latter at Constanţa?) in order to equilibrate/calibrate her floatability.

Now if true, where these shortcomings part of the original design, or caused by the fact that the planned specifications were not met? Is it true that Delfinul was the first sub built a Fiume? Was there a similar class of submarines in the Italian Navy?

Thank you!

And I have another question. What was the problem with the delivery of Delfinul? I'm trying to read Războiul submarin in Marea Neagră 1941-1944, but I'm having hard time.

From a collection of texts, "The veterans on the road of honor and sacrifice", an adapted translation of a fragment of a story of Traian Anderson, ANVR Galatzi (for one year trained as submariner at Marineschule Wesermunde Bremerhaven, 10-12 missions with "Regina Maria", in the cruise with "Marsuinul") :
I was transferred on "Delfinul" durring the repairs in The Shipyard of Galatzi. Because of the war, the submarine has ben evacuated, upstream the river, at Corabia. Here, the repairs were going fine, with a good colaboration of the workers...
The events of aug.23rd, 1944 found us at Corabia and we were satisfied thinking the war ended for the seamen..
On aug.24th., to the afternoon, there came the news : the german ships downstream the river in convoy will pass to the west. Immediately there has been organized the defence in case of an attack of those ships. So, the transporter "Pscov", being larger, was put before "Delfinul" as a shield. From the army there came one border guards company, one 47 mm field battery and one 60 mm mortar battery.
On Aug.25th, to the 17.00 the german ships appeared, going upstream the river. At 3-400 m distance, the fire was opened on them. The germans replyed precisely, having better weapons. A german ship was sunk, our forces suffered, having hard wounded people. On "Delfinul", fruntasul Panica, the MG-ner has been wounded...
Then, the days were running in uncertainty, we already knew about the fate of "Rechinul" and "Marsuinul", disarmed and seized.
On Sept..16th, at four days after the Armistice, here they come two soviet speedboats, leaded by a Kapitan 2nd Rank. They find out we are the crew of the submarine under repairs. They wondered and could not believe, knowing "Delfinul" sunk in The Black Sea. Then an order was given, to put the submarine on the large floating dock, in front with a tugboat and we started the travel to Galatzi. Same day, to the 13.00 the crew was separated. At 16.00, our tender ship also left Corabia, towed by the tugboat "Cosna" and to the night we arrived at Giurgiu.
The crew was confused, with no comunications with our command, all was unpredictable, in the will of fate.
On Sept.17th, at 14.00 we left Giurgiu to Galatzi and our question was if stop or not there. Anyway, we were trying to avoid the fate of the other crews. So, the plan was, if not stop, we jump over board to reach romanian land.
But it wasn't that way.
When aproached to Oltenitza, after a hard day, in the night, here it comes from behind a soviet speed boat and order by a loudspeaker :
- "Cosna", go back ! Turn around and return in Giurgiu !
I alarmed the crew, who was afraid. Why to return in the night and to where. Can be a trap. What to do ? Again plans and evil thoughts. So, if it will not be Giurgiu, but other place, we jump in the river and "God with us".
In the morning we arrived at Giurgiu.
Waiting all the morning, here they come one captain with two guards, gather our crew and order, looking at his watch :
- It is now 10 o'clock. You have 15 minutes to live the ship or you go prisoners.
Course, we left the ship in a hurry, it was not a good idea to go prisoners, and we went to Bucarest to report the facts.
Later, in 1945 "Delfinul" was returned to Romania and the repairs continued in The Shipyard of Galatzi.

I have some more questions, I would be honoured, if You would answer:
a) which class was delfinul, and which class were rechinul and marsuinul?
b) would it be possible to use some photos of these Submarines from Your webpage on polish wikipedia?
