These were in the same place, and were picked up today by the ISU bomb squad.

so the inventory is:

2 Waffen SS belts with buckles
1 SS black side cap
12 "einhandgranate" + some destroyed by rust
2 boxed with detonators(the kit that transforms a grenade into a mine)
-some rotten textiles...unindetiffied
-parts of a document case
-a large metal tube, some 25 cm long with 4 cm diameter
+ small iron parts.(maybe rest from some other rotten stuff).

I think this were hidden by a waffen ss soldier from Brasov, after 23 august.

They could also be from people parachuted behind Romanian / Soviet lines for sabotage - it happened occasionally.

Last time I checked, years ago, if I wanted to have a metal detector I needed to get a permit from the local police. But that permit didn't give me the right to use it! Only to own it. blink.gif If I wanted to use it I needed more permits. What's the legal framework now Ferdinand, have things improved? Did ISU give you trouble for finding this?

You can legally own a metal detector. Law 182/2000 + ord 43 is clear about the protection of special areas(historic sites).

steps:
1. ask you local police burreau(Patrimoniu) about papers needed(diferent from city to city).

2 buy the detector(preferably new with invoice)
3 some 20-30 lei taxes at financial authority(anaf nu impozite)
4 legal record
5 all the papers you will aply for authorization at the Police.

Some 4-30 days you'll have the authorization.

ISU guys are very cool and they thank detectorists for removing the danger. cool.gif

Great find .If the uniform element are for an waffen ss tank regiment I think that it is very likely that they are from the guy in the picture. Ore the family of that guy give a some tips smile.gif regarding the location tongue.gif . With this ocasion some of the guys in Romania that started ww2 reenacting movements can see that their uniforms , hats etc are not 100 % identical to the original.

Very interesting topic! Not very far from my home. Just a little question: if I'm taking a metal detector and go arround Fagaras, can I found anything from any mod f the world wars? I'm sure there was at least a battle between 2 and 3 october 1916. Can I find anything in the area? Thank you!
