The last photo is more probably taken on the bank of Tisa River in October 1944. It was indeed an encirclement of the Romanian 2nd and 4th Infantry Divisions in the bridgehead at Szolnok.

It could be as the source of the photo seems to be a Soviet one. In this case, it is hard to believe that they could take such a clear shot while fighting against the Romanians. Of course, there is also the possibility that the photo is captured. |

If the photo is taken in October 1944, then it is plausible to be taken by the Soviets. As it is published, it looks to me miscaptioned.

Correction: 7th Romanian Corps
Romanian generals did not command battalions. Battalions were commanded by Majors or Lieutenant Colonels and sometimes Captains. |
