3D Modeling, Order of the crown of Romania

Was last sunday in Bukarest at the "Muzeul National Militar".
Made a ton of photos, about all the uniforms but also from all the nice orders which are displayd there.

Since many weeks i was modelling the breast star from the "Order of the crown of Romania".
Finally i was abble to get the shape to a level which i'm happy with.
Next step will be to send the files to a Rapid-Prototyping company who can print the pieces for me.

WHY all this.... just because it's fun and the original pieces are somehow out of my range.

PS: as you can see the backplate has a mark "Reproduction".
Better this way... you never know.

Found a good company here in Romania which have the neccessary 3d-printers to produce high detailed prints.

Tommorrow will send them the STL-files for a quote.
Means afterwards to print me the pieces for all 3 breaststars.

Till i get the pieces i will construct also the Grand cross and the commanders neckorder.
Will post those 3d-renders too.

As soon i get the pieces i'll post them too when assembled and filled with the transparend red and white gel.

What material will the items be printed in? Plastic?

They will be done in PA plastic.
Could be made directly in metall with laser sintering, but this method is way to costly.

Received the pieces allready last year.
But just last week i finished them with assemling and painting.
They had cost me overall less then 10% of a original one.

All out of plastic.
Will see if i can find somebody who can make them in potmetal.

As the pictures show them from closeup everything can be seen.
But at normal "range" they look much better.
A bit of aging and weathering would give them a more realistic look.
