As I see is a parasol-wing, I suppose is fighter (single-seat), I don't see the windscreen for the back place. I think is Loire Gourdou LGL 32

Gents, sorry to resurrect this old topic, but since it concerns the LGL-32, i just wanted to ask, how many of these were bought and when did they served, is it as it says in one of the pictures on facebook, 20 bought in 1928-1929 (not 50 according to Aeroflight website)? Did they served alongside the Spads?

In Nov. 1933, 22 aircraft were available in ARR, while in March 1935, 60 were extant. Gen. Dénes |

Thank you very much Denes. So after the first lot of probably 25 or so (since 22 were existant in 1933), between Nov. 1933 and March 1935 Romania bough another 40 or so, almost parallel with the PZL-11B delivery?! Were those second hand aircraft, as i was reading on the net that LGL-32 was in service in France until 1933.
I thought there is still not enough info on romanian and ARRs aircraft in it's "prime time" (around and during WW2 basically), but accurate info for the interwar period is much more scarce (to me at least). This post has been edited by lancer21 on December 03, 2014 06:45 pm |

I found something!
http://smg.mapn.ro/SIA/Revista_3_65_2014.pdf Page 25. ARR listed there as having 35 "Gourdou" fighters, surely LGL-32, in 1934. So if the figure of 60 in 1935 is correct does that mean that apart from 50 PZL-11B, there were another 25 or so LGL-32 bought at the same time between 1934 and march 1935? Are we missing something? What would be the specs for the romanian ones, on wiki they are listed as having a 420hp Gnome-Rhone 9Ady engine and a max speed of 250kph. Many thanks. From what I’ve read, I think there were at least for stages in the history of the interwar Romanian aviation:
- Post-WW 1 - until the late 20’s when some planes ordered during the war were delivered (Spad S XIII among them), together with some planes delivered by the former enemies as a war compensation (Fokker D VII?, Aviatik Berg). Few other planes were ordered/delivered after the end of the war, until the end of 1920s, with the exception of the Fokker D XIs... - The late 1920 (or rather the early 1930), probably the most fascinating of these periods. It includes orders made towards the end of 1920 (part of them postponed, because of the economic crisis and/or corruption scandals, until the beginning of 1930s'), in order to boost a weakened military aviation, and it coincides with the first large production orders placed on the domestic aviation industry (the Potez XXV, licence made by IAR), and also with the major famous corruption affairs connected with the interwar Romanian aviation. Many interesting/exotic planes were used during these years by the Romanian aviation: - trainers: Morane Saulnier MS 35, Morane Saulnier MS 230, Liore-Gordou LGL 32, Messerschmitt M 23 - day fighters: Bleriot-Spad S 61 “flying coffins” - night fighters, light bombers, (long range observation/reconnaissance): Breguet Br 19 - night bombers: Liore-Olivier LiO 20 - observation, light bombers: Potez XXV - seaplanes: RAS Getta, Savoia-Marchetti S 59 (bis?) - Early to mid 1930, the beginning of the series of ambitious modernization and reconstruction plans for the Romanian aeronautics, starting with the licence-building of the high, gull wing all-metal PZL P 11 b/k (arguably the best fighter plane at that moment). In this years, the series of IAR prototype fighters were build and tested by IAR, together with planes build, in lore or less extensive series, by SET and ICAR. - The final stage before WW2, late 1930s-early 1940s, the period I think we all know the best - a continuation but also a diversification of the efforts from the previous years.
