Hello guys,

please may anyone provide a list of basic commands in romanian/english speech?

I mean commands like:
watch out!
at ease!
present arms!
order arms! (weapon to the feet)
right turn!
left turn!
stop!
forwards!
backwards!

Thank you very much in advance.
with best regards
Danko

Hello, I'll try to help, remembering my time in the army. smile.gif The commands were post-1989, but also before NATO (1997). I'll also try to suggest the intonation wink.gif

watch out! atentiune!
at ease! pe loc, repaos!
present arms! prezentati, arm'!
order arms! (weapon to the feet) la picior, arm'!
right turn! la dreapt-ta!
left turn! la stan-ga!
stop! stai!
forwards! inainte, mars!
backwards! inapoi rupeti randurile, mars! (this was also the command for being dismissed from a military formation)

You can dispose of the commas according to your will.

LATER EDIT: the only (other) command I can figure out for "backwards" (since we humans don't have a reverse position to the shift gear) would be "la stanga-mpre-jur!" (180 degree turn, leaftwards), and then "inainte, mars!"

Agarici : many thanks, man!
You have saved my soul :-))

i really love your "later edit" comment about human reverse mode laugh.gif I have mistaken while trying to translate into english and I got your point completely. The same here, when the commander or soldiers are not so skilled. It is better to disband the whole unit and to command new "formation" or line in a new direction in this case :-)
