Thanks for your reply. It seems that all kinds of fakes appear on eBay (unfortunately).

QUOTE (Carol I @ May 3 2006, 11:04 PM)
In 1942, he was posted to Transazur

This is the first time I hear about this region, 'Transazur'. What territory does it actually cover?

Gen. Dénes

P.S. I have the same photo in my collection - without the signature.

The quote is not actually mine, but that of the seller of the photo. Click on the image and you will get to the auction page. You may be able to address the question directly to him/her.

Yes, I know that. Still is 'Transazur' a valid historical term?

Whoever wrote that actually meant that Serg. TR av. Romeo Neacsu flew combat missions with Polish aircraft, i.e. P.Z.L. P.11 & P.24, against the Soviets, in 1941.

What about the 18 aircraft he is supposed to have downed? How many victories did he have in the end?

A pilot that asked not to tell his name,told me a funny story today;
1943 Tiraspol,Leu Romanescu,the flotila chief,came to a visit.
Nearby at Thigina, was an oficecer of the prder patrol, that use to organize wild parties.
Romanescu was invited and when he came back in the morning,he got a call from his wife.
"Leu ,where have you been all night?" she asked...
"Darling I cannot hear a word you say.The connection is horible".
The guy in charged with the comunication;"The connection is perfect".
Leu Romanescu:"taci in pizda matii ,ca stiu ca e perfecta..."(f**k you, shut up,I know the connection is ok).

Today I visited Dobran.
He told me a funny story:
user posted image
From left:Adj Ghita Scordila.
On the right:Adj stag Emil Balan.
The others ,no need to introduce.
So...
On the way from Pipera airfield, where the "defence of the teritory"was stationed, was a bar.The guys used to sstop there for a few min on the way to the airfield, and a few hours on the way back.
Scordila, rented a room just over the bar (situated on "Calea Floreasca".
He developed a special code;If he wanted beer in his room he would hit the flor in a way.If he wanted wine, another way.
He and Balan were upset for not having action and not going to the front.
One evening the started a fight (Scordila was a big guy like seen on the photo).
They devastated the bar,and were punished by sent to the front.
Just what they wanted.
