Hi. You must have got the second one (model 1941) from "Galnum" on eBay... The cross may be original, but the crown and the ribbon look very "refurbished" to me (even if I don't see the ribbon in your image, I still got the eBay picture). If I'm not wrong, the model 1941 was also coming cased... Listen, "galnum" is a specialist crook of Bucharest, who's not only selling fake medals, but also very dubious ancient coins.

As for the first one (model 1916), I'm sorry but the crown looks again very strange (too new), and is similar to model 1941. If you purchased these 2 awards from the same "dealer", than I see... sad.gif

As I said before, maybe only the cross looks to be original...

Best regards,

Getu'

Do not worry, because I swear to have seen a similar model 1941 sold by "galnum" on eBay... It is very possible that your 3rd class 1941 be totally original... But the crown was a little bit too "shiny" for me... See a similar item :
http://anm.50megs.com/anm/Rom/Rom20.JPG

I have several Military Orders of Michael the Brave :

1st Class model 1916
1st Class model 1941 with swords
1st Class model 1944 with swords
2nd Class model 1941 with swords
3rd Class model 1916 - miniature
3rd Class model 1916 mounted on a WWI bar
3rd Class model 1941 mounted on a WWII bar

(Sorry if we cannot post pictures yet from our computers)

Your 3rd Class 1916 looks good (the cross) but the crown is shiny and not too "classy" as were the first ones. Compared with the cross (who looks rather used), the crown is new and not-ternished, leaving a strange impression... That's my opinion.

A good person would not sell electrocorrodated ancient coins at the price of originals...

There are very few references about Romanian awards & decorations. Usually, Romanian books never inform us of the variations, the metals used, the mint marks etc.

Best regards,

Getu'

P.S.: Are you "lathanders" on eBay? ohmy.gif

Don't know... The real question is if his items are original. In museums you generally find original stuff...

Apparently, 'Galnum' is not located in Rumania, but Switzerland:

He changed his profile recently; some 2 months ago, he was registered in Romania! He also has a shop in Bucharest. Switzerland is a top country of professional jewellers... So who knows from where he has the ancient coins. With today's technology...

Dénes

Saw that too.
That's just a front for his actions...no one will pay serious attention to a guy selling stuff on ebay FROM ROMANIA...fraud anyone? biggrin.gif
So, he has changed his adress and profile, to better fit his needs...

Judging by the quantity of "raw, uncleaned" coins he is selling...he may be looting some archeological sites or some museum collection.
