The problem is not the metal detector itself, but the romanian law who state that every underground value is state property. So, if you find a treasure , is better to declare you find it in your attic , not in your cellar, to legally own it .If the authorities will see you with a metal detector in the field, is obvious fot them that you try to "transfer" some state property(with no or with some value) in your pockets. The autorithies are very suspicious after the large offer of dacian gold on the western market( COSON -gold dacian coins), obtained by smugglers with metal detectors and illegal digging.

OK and how can I prove to the police that I wont be looking for gold or coins. Or anything like that. I am still debating if I should bring my detector with me or not.. because I don't want any trouble from the border police if they find it.

A friend of mine, who has a construction firm, uses some kind of a metal detector, while renovating houses that he has no detals about the electrical and plumming instalation.
When he wants to drill a hole ,he works first with the MD. We can tell police that we are constructors, when the catch us on a deserted field with the MD... |

yea all we need is some hard hats and make it look like we are professionals and know what we are doing.. even though there is no houses on site.. we can make up a whole bunch of lies to make the cop confused ,, lol
i wish the law will change so the amateur archeologists can have a chance on discovering some (potcoave de cai morti) or rusty nails.. |

Nice pictures....but did you found anything? Does the metal detector work under water, because if it does you can search that bunker for metal relics.

cipiamon, I'd be glad to come along and document the exploits of the team. maybe we'll get some kind of "blair witch project" out of it, especially if we encounter some kind of spooky bunker... depends on the day in which the trip is organised though... let me know and I'll see if I have time. take care -------------------- I

New, stunning discovery !
I am verry excited about this, reading a book about Bolintin i found out that around where one of my grand mothers is living now was the place where Tudor Vladimirescu use to hang around before goin to Bucharest. Today i started the scanning but becose of the insects (millions of musquitoes) i kind of aborted the action. But still i scanned a minute or two, and i found something that first i thought it was a nail, but looking more close it turned out to be a trigger from a gun Now i wonder from white type of gun it was, could this be from Tudor Vladimirescu's period? Or maby ww1, i heard there was battles in the area too. Maby mr. Christian can help me |

Is hard to say if is really a trigger,or a bended piece of metal...The best thing you can do is to search for a gun with a missing trigger
