During WWI and later in WWI beside regimental badges it was custom to wear regimental rings too. Here is an example of that. I'm not sure if this ring is Romanian . The cypher could be of Queen Elisabeth , since she died in 1916 , and the year on the ring is 1915.

These are all nice, Aviatie, but judging from their price on Ebay they are obviously replicas (except for the 1915 ring).

Even so, I would like to buy an original or a nicely made replica of a regimental/divisional ring.

Do you know of an online store or place that sells such things?

I'm not trying to sell here. If these rings are original or not , it doesn't matter. Even if they are replicas , obviously the original is the same. Sorry have no ideea where you could find things like that (except eBay).

I know you're not trying to sell...

I was just asking if you knew of places that do, since you seem to be interested in the subject.

Anyway, thanks for answering.

Oh , BTW , I forgot one more thing , you can't judge an item just after his price... obviously you have a wrong ideea about eBay. Sure , there are many replicas out there , but also genuine items.

Obviously you have no clue what my ideas - whether wrong or right - happen to be.

Please point to me where in my previous message I explicitly or implicitly stated that ebay has no genuine items.

That ring you posted from ebay was bidding for 2 Euros when I checked it. I think it's now up to 10 Euros.

Oh, and by the way, the same Ebay trader who's selling the ring is also selling a RitterKreuz for 16 Euros.

I'm sure it's authentic - make sure you buy it.

I think the way you put out the issue is not propper manner for a civilized discussion . The topic wasn't about this ring or that seller , or about the authenticity of his items.

Perhaps you're right in saying our discussion is not heading anywhere useful, so I propose we close it here.

Cheers

With regard the Commemorative rings rings on Ebay, if they are on German ebay, its normal to start the bidding very low at 1 Euro, I have seen large Medal Bars / Spange with 7 - 10 medals starting at 1 Euro, the German sellers know there are collectors out there who want these items.

By the way the one with the anchor, chain, etc is a representation of the Naval Wound Badge WW1, even the large size version rarely comes on ebay.
WARNING: ( the firm "WORLDWIDE MILITARIA EXCHANGE" is selling REPRODUCTIONS of all types of WW1 Prussian, Turkish, Zeppelin, Pilots, U-Boat,wound badges of the Army and Navy etc., none of which are marked as reproduction, and similar items are being offered on Ebay usa as originals.

Perhaps a page or thread could be started for members to post information they ave discovered about FAKE items,

They also offer hundreds of iii reich insignia as well again people are buying them then re-selling on Ebay so be careful about buying items (a) with no maker marks, or (cool.gif that look just like they have been made.

The firm offer the following iii Reich medals for sale:1939 Iron Cross series,
Grand Cross of the Iron Cross with neck cravat, 1st Class Iron Cross with pinback, 2nd Class Iron Cross with ribbon.

1939 Knights Cross of the Iron Cross Series:
Knights Cross with neck ribbon,
Knights Cross with Oak leaves device and ribbon,
Knights Cross with Oak leaves, and swords device and ribbon,
Knights Cross with Oal leaves, swords and Diamonds (simulated / glass) device.

1914 WW1 Iron Cross with 1939 Bar.

Knights War Merit Cross 1st Class,
Knights War Merit Cross 2nd Class,
War Merit without swords 1st Class,
War Merit without swords 2nd Class,
War merit 1st Class with swords pinback.
war merit 2nd Class without swords pinback,
1st, 2nd, 3rd, types of Mothers Cross,
The Blood Order.
S.a. Sports Badges 2st, 2nd, 3rd Award.
Luftschutz second-class medal, Russin Front Medal, Spanish Blue Divison Medal.
Italian-German African Campaign Medal.
All Navy Jacket breast badges.
All Army Jacket Breast Badges,
SS Medals, Germanic Ss proficiency Badges, Partidan Badges
Airforce, all types of Jacket Breast Badges and Insignias.
Tank Battle Badges, Ground Assaut.

In fact they offer over 8 pages of insignia in their catalog and none of it is marked as repro!!!!!

So buyer beware.

Kevin in Deva.

I would like to confirm a story passed in relation to the Austrian ring below, so I would not give any details yet to avoid any bias. This being said, did anyone see a similar ring? What was it for?
