Hello,

Could anyone please detail me the main stages of this battle?
As far as I found, the city itself was taken by the German 170. Infanterie-Division on July 7th, 1941. Its Infanterie-Regiment 401 attacked from the south of the city in the morning, took the city and resumed its advance until Hill 232 (north of Slobozia-Balti). During the evening, this regiment, poorly supported, was pushed back by a Soviet counterattack and drove on the railway embankment (railway Cernauti-Balti-Ribnita).

But I found conflicting data, some giving the date of July 12th, 1941 for the fall of the city!

Thank you for any help provided.
Multumesc!
